Published: April 2026
Application of the Python Library JAX to XVA Quantification

JAX is a Python library for array operations and automatic differentiation that can utilize not only CPUs but also accelerators such as GPUs and TPUs; it is designed for high-performance numerical computation and large-scale machine learning. Array operations refer to the multidimensional computations required for CVA and FVA calculations; here, we present an application example that actually leads to XVA calculations.

Effect of Calibration Including SABR Beta

Because β (beta) and ρ (rho) affect the volatility smile in similar ways, β is usually fixed during calibration. We examined whether also calibrating β improves accuracy.

Re-examination of An Arbitrage Case Using SABR Approximation Formulas

 SABR Hagan
It is known that under certain conditions, the probability density may become negative in the SABR Hagan approximation, and arbitrage may not be guaranteed. Here, we test a case where arbitrage is actually possible.

Effectiveness Verification of DNN

Based on the Universal Approximation Theorem for neural networks, we perform function approximation using deep neural networks and verify its effectiveness. Deep neural networks hold promise for a wide range of applications, including risk measurement, hedge calculations, and ALM. The link below presents results from prototyping the function approximation capability of the arbitrage-free SABR model, where training data was generated using a GPU.
